Advisory Letter
This is one example of a tracing letter used by NEPAS. Obviously it is adapted to suit individual's needs and is not presented as a finished example but to be used by professionals or individuals as guidelines for their own letter. Also we would recommend the writer gives some consideration to the letter regarding formality. Should it be written on head paper or blank paper? Some people don't take kindly to receiving official letters from 'nosey' organisations.

The reason I am writing to you is that I am trying to help a young person (i) trace his birth relatives whom he lost contact with in 1954.(i)

Obviously we know that there are many families with the surname of enter birth surname who live in the region and if you cannot shed nay light on the situation, establishing this fact will help us to try and find this persons missing family by using public records in other ways.
